Tsakos Shipping Trading S.A. (TST) was founded in Piraeus, Greece by
Capt. Panagiotis N. Tsakos in 1970.
The Company manages and operates a
diversified fleet consisting of tanker, container and
dry cargo vessels currently numbering 69 ships approximately 6.7 million deadweight tons
(dwt). This fleet includes the 35 modern tankers of Tsakos Energy
Navigation Ltd. (TEN). TEN has been listed on the Oslo Bors since
1993, the Bermuda Stock Exchange since 1993 and on the New York Stock
Exchange since March 2002.
TST is certified under ISM code, ISO 9002 and
ISO
14001, making it one of the first major shipping
organizations to be accredited by Lloyd's Register. Today, TST
ranks among the three largest Greek ship management companies and is one of the
ten largest tanker companies in the world.
One of the main contributing factors to the Company's growth, success
and repute is
TST's focus on providing quality customer service and its
commitment to building long-term relationships with oil majors,
state-owned oil companies and first-class charterers. The importance of
maintaining such strategic alliances has encouraged TST to
institutionalize its maritime safety culture through the training and
education of seafarers in Company-sponsored naval academies in the
Philippines and through continuing education seminars in its Athens
headquarters for both seafaring and office personnel.
In addition to ship transport, TST has interests in industries as
diverse as ship repairs, onshore/offshore exploration, oil and energy,
real estate and forestry. TST is also the proud sponsor of the Maria
Tsakos Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Uruguay that for
the past 27 years has aimed at fostering links between the Uruguayan and
Greek people through language, history and culture.
