1970 Establishment of the original company at 53 Akti Miaouli,
Pireaus.
Purchase of the first cargo vessel, the m.v "Irene's Star" of 2,500 dwt.
1972 Purchase of the first tanker vessel, the m.t "Irene's
Fortune" of 18,000 dwt. The Company now manages 11 vessels.
1973 The shipping operations of the Group move to Karaoli and
Dimitriou Street, Pireaus.

1974 Establishment of the Tsakos Chartering division.
1975 Purchase of the Regusci y Voulminot Ingenieros, S.A yard
which is refurbished and renamed Tsakos Industrias Navales, in
Montevideo, Uruguay.
1978 Establishment of Tsakos Shipping (London) Ltd, to liaise
more closely with London Insurance, chartering and S+P brokers, and also
to evaluate new projects and manage joint ventures.
Establishment of "Fundacion Maria Tsakos" in Montevideo, Uruguay, by Capt. P.N. Tsakos.
Tsakos Shipping & Trading S.A. is a lead founding member of the Hellenic
Marine Consortium (HMC), established to secure economies of scale and
more competitive rates for its members.
1979
Initiation of commercial agroforestry and farming activities in Uruguay.
1980 The headquarters of Tsakos Group shipping-related and other
activities moves to 85 Akti Miaouli, Pireaus. The company now manages 30
vessels.
Establishment of the Tsakos S+P division.
Establishment of the Tsakos Human Resources office on the island of
Chios, Hellas. Its main objective is the employment of Hellene seafarers
and provision of support services to their families.
1981 The Group's first multipurpose Newbuilding is delivered and
named m.v "Irene's Diamond".
1982 Tsakos Shipping & Trading S.A. is among founder members of
the Hellenic Marine Environment Protection Association (HELMEPA), a
voluntary association formed to enhance environmental consciousness in
the shipping industry and among its seafarers.
1983 Tsakos Industrias Navales S.A. delivers to the Group Tsakos
management its first multipurpose Newbuilding, named "Rampla Juniors".
1987 The Tsakos Group initiates the sponsorship of two Mariners'
Polytechnic Colleges in Naga and Legaspi, Philippines.
1989
A new floating dock able to accommodate vessels up to 75,000 dwt is
purchased and transported to Montevideo. Facilities at the yard are
expanded to include additional piers and quays. An additional floating
dock was acquired to facilitate repairs to smaller vessels.
1991 The activities of Tsakos Industrias Navales are declared of
National Interest to the Government of Uruguay by Ministerial Decree.
1993 Establishment of MIF Ltd, a Norwegian Stock Exchange public
quoted company which acquires a fleet of modern tanker tonnage.
Establishment of Argosy Insurance Company LTD, Bermuda, the Groups own
captive insurance company
1994 Tsakos Industrias Navales S.A. acquires a dredger in
connection with dredging and river transportation (Hydrovia) projects in
the Rio de la Plat a area.
1995 Purchase and construction of the Tsakos-owned headquarters
in Athens, the "Megaron Makedonia", which is inaugurated in June
1996. The company now operates 40 vessels under its management.
1996 The Tsakos Group sponsors expansion of the Maritime Academy
for Engineers on the island of Chios.
1997 Tsakos Shipping & Trading S.A obtains ISO 9002 and ISM Code
accreditation relating to safety and management practices.
The Tsakos Group expands its involvement in oil exploration in the
Caspian Sea.
The first Newbuilding Aframax tanker in a series of four is delivered to
MIF Ltd, the m.t "Toula Z".
1998 The second and third tankers in the Newbuilding series are
delivered to MIF Ltd and named m.t "Athens 2004" and m.t "Maria Tsakos".
The first VLCC Newbuilding is delivered to MIF Ltd. and named m.t
"Millennium". Tsakos Shipping & Trading S.A now operates 50 vessels
under its management.
Tsakos Shipping & Trading S.A obtains ISO 14001:1996 accreditation
relating to the protection of the environment, the first Greek shipping
group to acquire such an accreditation.
1999 The fourth aframax Newbuilding,
m.t "Olympia", is delivered
2000 The dawn of the new millennium finds the Tsakos Group
Celebrating its 30th anniversary with more than 60 vessels under its
management. The Group further expands in the Newbuilding field by
signing contracts for four Suezmax tankers in Korea.
2001 MIF Ltd, renamed TSAKOS ENERGY NAVIGATION Ltd (TEN Ltd). M.t
"Opal Queen", fifth Newbuilding Aframax tanker is delivered by Imabari
Japan.
2002
Establishment of TSAKOS COMMERCE S.A, handling the Group’s commercial and
Landing activities.
2002 March 5, "Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) Ltd"
formerly known as "MIF Ltd" commences trading in the New
York Stock Exchange. The Fleet under Tsakos management reaches 5 million dwt tons.
